103. It is narrated from Abu Musa al-Ash’ari (r.a.) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:
“When a child of a person dies, Allah the Exalted says to His angels:
“Did you take the soul of the child of my servant?”
Angels say:
“Yes.”
Allah the Exalted says:
“Did you get the fruit of his heart (his beloved)?”
Angels say:
“Yes.”
Allah the Exalted says:
“Then, what did my servant say?”
Angels say:
“He praised you and performed istirja[1] by saying “Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rajiun (To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return)”
Upon that Allah the Almighty says:
“Then build a house in Paradise for my servant and name it “The House of Praise”!” (Tirmidhi, Janaiz, 36/1021)
[1] The word “istirja” used in the hadith is remembering Allah and the Hereafter by saying:
“To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return” when faced with unexpected bad situations or when sad news are given and find consolation. This situation is expressed in a noble verse of the Quran as: “Who say, when afflicted with calamity: “To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return.” They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance. (Al-Baqarah; 2:156-157)
