١٩٧. عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
«أَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيَّ أَمَانَيْنِ لِأُمَّتِي:
(وَمَا كَانَ الله لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَاَنْتَ ف۪يهِمْ، وَمَا كَانَ الله مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ)
فَإِذَا مَضَيْتُ تَرَكْتُ فِيهِمُ الْاِسْتِغْفَارَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ».
197. Abu Musa (r.a.) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:
Allah the Exalted revealed two trusts to me for my nation.
“But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst you were amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.” (Al-Anfal; 8:33)
When I leave them I leave asking for forgiveness (which is the second trust that will prevent Allah’s torment) with them until the Day of Judgment.” (Tirmidhi, Tafsir, 8/3082)
